Casey & Megan's Summer Maternity Session in the River

Six years ago, these two asked me to be their wedding photographer. For six years, I've been keeping up with them. Here are two notable things that have continued to stand out to me. The first - that Megan is unapologetically herself. All of the time. She is kind, determined, and patient. If she loves something, then she loves it with her whole heart. I do not believe she knows how to do anything "halfway."

The second is that Casey is one of the few men I have met who knows how to love loudly. In 15 years of wedding photography, I have met very few people who dote on their significant other the way that Casey dotes on Megan, publicly. It brings me joy to read posts on social media that he writes about her, about his favorite person in the world. He is authentic and heartfelt, and I wish more people were as unafraid of vulnerability as he is when it comes to her. An hour with them on the river, first thing in the morning, and it's obvious that Megan has made a family that makes sure she knows she is as loved as she should be. She's amazing. I cannot wait to witness how the way these two love each other is reflected in the way their daughters will love each other.

What you won't see on this blog post are about 50 images I took of their sweet little girl smiling so big because she and I were fast friends. She thinks hyper-Vicki is hilarious. With the rise of AI and privacy preferences, I have made it a habit in the last two years to ask each family what their comfort level is with social media (because every family is different). These two asked that I limit any that were fully centered on her, and I told them I would avoid any showing her whole face, even though it is an adorable face (if you know her, you know that). So, while you won't see her cute grin here, you should know that she had more fun than any of us grownups did splashing in the river.
