Just Werkin' At The Car Wash

When I saw this car wash one night after picking the twins up (because mom life I needed to vacuum p a mess they made) I thought, "Man. This would be super fun for a shoot!" So I posted on Facebook and MaKenzie was game.

Let's be real - most of us don't look that cute eating melting ice cream.

Fun fact: the place that supplied her dress, Honeypot Vintage, has also supplied clothes for Stranger Things. How cool is that? & how cool is that dress?

We wanted to channel summertime fun in the 70s vibes - and those glasses were the perfect accessory. When it came to hair and makeup I told her to go big, colorful, and have fun. Her hair stylist and makeup artist did exactly that. The pops of color on her eyes were so, so fun and flirty.

"I've never gotten taller makin' someone else feel small If you ain't got nothin' nice to say don't say nothin' at all" - Biscuits, Kasey Musgraves

We knew we wanted roller skates but we didn't know that we were going to find PINK ONES (eeeep). We also didn't know how hard getting from the ground back up was going to be and I'm not bragging, but I saved her life at least twice.

This babe. Seriously. How cute is she.

These shots are the ones that made me think; I bet we could publish this somewhere. I had no idea that it would end up being my first international print publication. Or my first fashion magazine publication. That's the thing about working with MaKenzie though - she brings her "A" game!

"If you could see what I see, you'd be blinded by the colours Yellow, red and orange and green, and at least a million others So tie up your bow, take off your coat and take a look around," - Kasey Musgraves

I absolutely had to get close up on this entire look. I WISH I could do my hair and makeup like this every day.

That rainbow? Those would be scrap book rhinestones on a clear sheet. It was just something I wanted to try out and it turned out exactly like I pictured.

The reason we chose this location? These neon lights.

"You can't be everybody's cup of tea Some like it bitter, some like it sweet Nobody's everybody's favorite So you might as well make it how you please You can't be everybody's cup of tea" - Cup of Tea, Kasey Musgraves

Honestly. It was so much fun.

MaKenzie loves Kasey Musgraves - so we did a quick outfit change and MaKenzie slipped into a tee shirt she bought at one of her concerts, threw on some of Kasey's brand's glitter (which honestly is the most fun makeup ever), and put her music on a Polaroid radio and tossed some glitter around.

Hey Kasey, meet your biggest fan.

So how about that 70s summer style ? I think she nailed it. Free spirited attitude and everything.

I will probably always share the pictures in the summertime - and sitting here in the rain waiting on the twins to get out of school has me missing it already.

Best. Glitter. Picture. Ever.

The neon lights had Andy Warhol on my mind.

& So far MaKenzie and I are 2/2 on shoots we've done together being published somewhere beside my own personal blog. You can find a copy of the magazine that featured a few of these photos here.
